To realize sustainability that Tohoku Electric Power Group is considering, the Company believes it is essential that the dignity of stakeholders engaged in its business activities is protected and their rights are respected.
Based on such a philosophy, the Company established the “Tohoku Electric Power Group Human Rights Policy” on March 2023 to clarify the concept of human rights in Tohoku Electric Power Group.
In accordance with the Policy, Tohoku Electric Power Group will fulfill its responsibilities to respect human rights of all stakeholders in all business activities.

  • Human rights due diligence

    Identification and impact assessment of human rights risk

    As part of the human rights due diligence, the Company conducted an identification and impact assessment of human rights risk in Tohoku Electric Power and Tohoku Electric Power network.
    In the future, the Company will endeavor to reduce and prevent an occurrence of high priority human rights risk to address by implementing the PDCA cycle appropriately.
    As for identification and impact assessment of human rights risk, the Company will implement them in group companies sequentially.

    • STEP1
    • Based on internal documents or hearing from relevant departments at head office, investigate organizational structure, business content, or stakeholders concerned, etc. to assess the potential human rights risk and its impact in an early stage.
    • STEP2
    • Conduct a questionnaire survey on human rights risk efforts in relevant departments at head office. Furthermore, scrutinize the questions to conduct a questionnaire survey on more than one office.
    • STEP3
    • Based on the result of questionnaire survey, conduct an examination in the offices in need of further investigation.
    • STEP4
    • Based on the results of above questionnaire survey and examination, identify human rights risk and scrutinize the impact assessment. Consider corrective measures

    Human rights risk assessment at trading partners

    The Company is requesting its partners to address human rights issues through its “Request to all material suppliers” as well as confirming their efforts on respect for human rights including prohibition of child labor, forced labor, and discrimination through “Sustainability survey” targeting its trading partners.
    Furthermore, on analysis of the survey results, if a partner is found to have room for improvement, the Company asks such partner to improve its efforts as well as confirming the questionnaire survey content, exchanging views, and sharing awareness of the issues through dialogue.

    Remedy mechanisms

    To properly address the problems on harassment, corporate ethics, or legal compliance, the Company set up a helpdesk called “Yori, Sou Hotline” outside and inside the company.
    At the Hotline, a more secure consultation system for consulters is provided through strict control of consulters’ personal information and prohibition of disadvantageous treatment for consulters.

  • Raising awareness of human rights

    In addition to raising employees’ awareness of human rights, the Company has been promoting the creation of an environment that does not tolerate discrimination, and toward creating a workplace in which diverse human resources can work with a sense of vitality, it has held seminars for raising awareness of human rights throughout the group since FY1994.
    Also, by publishing the content of human rights seminar and e-learning materials on human rights on its internal education platform “T-next”, the Company has been working to raise awareness of human rights among all employees and educate them.
    The Company will continue its efforts to raise awareness of human rights among all employees throughout the group.
